A mission of Midtown Vineyard Church
The Eastern Carolina Housing Organization’s (ECHO) mission is to break the cycles of homelessness experienced by individuals and families in our community. Their vision is for every person experiencing a housing crisis to find a place to call home. As a part of ECHO, My Home Donation Center helps people in your community facing a housing crisis create a place to call home. Community donations of household items and furniture go directly to veterans, women, men, and children moving into their new homes.
“After I retired, I started searching for a volunteer opportunity in my new home community of Myrtle Beach. I researched various organizations that were helping veterans, the homeless, and people seeking help to recover from alcohol & drug addiction. My hope was to work ‘hands-on’ in one of those areas, where I could see that my efforts were making a difference. My role running the My Home Donation Center as a part of the Eastern Carolina Housing Organization (ECHO) covers all of those areas! My team and I get to see the impact of what we do every week as we help individuals & families ‘create a home’ as the ECHO case managers re-house their clients. To see the joy & hope on someone’s face when they realize they now have a home – not just a roof over their head – but a place with all they need to move forward with their lives makes all of our efforts worthwhile.”
