Legacy that Transforms

The Chapin Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of the people of Myrtle Beach by providing grants that support a vibrant and healthy community in five service areas.

Serving Myrtle Beach Since 1943

Simeon B. Chapin was a visionary in planning for the future of a vibrant life in Myrtle Beach. The creation of the Chapin Foundation ensured that his passion for serving all the citizens of the Myrtle Beach area would live on.

The foundation’s areas of focus are: churches, church sponsored non-profits, the YMCA, public libraries, and public healthcare providers.

OUR FOUNDER

A Man of Vision

Simeon B. Chapin was a man of faith, a man of vision and a man of action. He cared about people and built programs and institutions to make their lives and communities better. In 1911, he joined with Burroughs & Collins to begin development of Myrtle Beach.

In the early 1940’s, Mr. Chapin sold his Wall Street brokerage business and retired. He then created four foundations, one here in Myrtle Beach, SC. His passion was to grow the communities he loved, to inspire young people and encourage faith in God.

Meet our Grantees

Since its creation in 1943, the Chapin Foundation has provided visionary grant making to five focus areas within the city of Myrtle Beach and a one-mile radius.

From local food banks to world missions, construction to transportation, the Foundation strives to build a healthy and strong community.
