Grand Strand Miracle Leagues

A mission of First Presbyterian Church

Founded in Myrtle Beach in 2001, the Grand Strand Miracle Leagues became the second Miracle League in the nation, creating one of the earliest all-access baseball programs built on the belief that every individual deserves a place to play, connect, and belong. What began on a fully adapted, rubberized field designed for wheelchairs, walkers, and all forms of mobility has grown into a
vibrant hub for inclusive recreation and community.

Today, GSML empowers individuals with disabilities to thrive through adaptive sports and recreation, serving hundreds of players each year through nine sports programs, including baseball, soccer, golf, cheer, tennis, basketball, dance, flag football, and swim safety. Alongside our athletic programs, our School Day Jamborees have expanded significantly, welcoming students with disabilities from across the county for inclusive field trip days that promote movement, friendship, and joyful experiences outside the classroom.

From our accessible playground and sensory-friendly spaces to the incredible volunteers who support each participant, GSML continues to grow in both reach and impact, creating opportunities where individuals of all ages can build confidence, form lasting relationships, and feel a true sense of belonging.

Baseball and soccer take place at the James C. Benton Miracle League Field, as well as other venues around the Grand Strand.

“The Chapin Foundation has been instrumental to the Grand Strand Miracle League in so many ways. From helping to get our adapted field built, to the construction of a storage equipment building at our field, to general programming support for our specialized baseball, soccer & golf programming. We are so thankful that the Board of The Chapin Foundation believes in our mission. The support enables our nonprofit to reach many more youth and adults with disabilities in our community.”

—Carson Benton, Board Chairman Emeritus
